Little-Known Legal "Loopholes" That Can Slash College Costs by 58.2%
...so that you can comfortably afford college without changing your lifestyle, plundering your retirement savings or racking up boatloads of high fee, high rate, predatory student loans.
Get Started Now >>Because of Pearl and Andy's wizardry, we were able to send our three boys
to expensive private colleges without having to eat
mac 'n cheese every night for dinner.

A former NYC prosecutor who files for ~500 families a year will handle your entire financial aid strategy. Every form. Every loophole. Every negotiation.
Dear Fellow Parent:
Guidance counselors are useless.
Your accountant can't help either.
And colleges are BIG BUSINESS. They want every last dollar they can wring out of you.
If your child is headed off to college in the next year or two, and you're officially you-know-whatting-a-brick when you realize just HOW RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE tuition has gotten since YOU applied back in The Day...
...and you could be asking yourself, "How on god's green earth will I possibly be able to afford to send my kids where they deserve to go..."
...without raiding my retirement or selling an organ?
I'm Andy Lockwood, best selling author of five college planning books, including "How to 'Hide' Your Money from the Financial Aid Office, " and "How to Negotiate Your Crappy Financial Aid and Merit Aid Offer."
Along with my wife, former Queens County Assistant District Attorney), Pearl, we've been at the college finance and admissions consulting game for more than 25 years.
Pearl prepares and files financial aid applications for approximately 500 families per year. Her specialty:
Helping families who think they'll NEVER get any college financial assistance, comfortably afford to send their kids to the colleges they deserve, without sacrificing their lifestyles or vaporizing their retirement.
This isn't just some "business" that we do to pay the bills. It's personal.
Between college and law school, I racked up more than $100,000 in high rate, high fee debt. It caused credit issues, rental and mortgage denials, not to mention tons of interest.
Not fun.
We started this business when our four kids were babies. We knew we'd have to solve the problem of how to afford tuition for our own kids.
I can tell you professionally and personally, that there IS light at the end of the tunnel. Three of our kid are college grads (two in the last six months!), one is still in at an expensive, elite college.
We went through these trials and tribulations and came out the other side in good shape.
We're here to help you do the same.
You can shortcut what we went through. We're here to give you the "Easy Button."
Strange Financial Aid Facts
I'd bet you dollars to donuts that you have a better shot at getting aid than you, your friends and your accountant (and other "experts") think.
Here's why:
- Most financial and merit aid goes to parents in the top 25% of income (families earning six and seven figures).
- At most colleges, roughly 25-30% of families pay Full Boat, subsidizing a whopping 70-75%. Which group would you rather be in? (That's a rhetorical question. Don't answer.)
- The AVERAGE tuition discount at a private college is a staggering 58.2%, according to the latest industry reports. Colleges are cutting deals left and right. Paying full price today is an OPTION, not an obligation!
The financial aid system PUNISHES responsible families who earn a living, pay their bills, and live below their means.
At the time, the system rewards less responsible families by showering them with grants and scholarships.
(I realize this isn't politically correct, but I'm just getting warmed up.)
Last, and most disappointing, guidance counselors are woefully untrained in this area too.
Not to mention severely outnumbered (the average ratio of child to counselor is more than 400:1, nationally).
Why does one family pay full price, while the other gets 50% off? It boils down to one thing:
Unlocking the "Rules of the Game."
Crack the code and you'll be ushered into the College Endowment Promised Land, and receive a WINDFALL of scholarships and grants.
The other choice: ignore The Rules at your peril, and roll the dice.
Here's how we do it:
"Loopholes"
Buried in more than 1,000 pages of regulations behind the FAFSA (the easy application) are legal and ethical ways to "shelter" your assets, to improve your eligibility for aid. We help you implement little-known strategies to get the most possible.
"Landmines"
The FAFSA is straightforward on its face, but one seemingly innocent mistake can cost tens of thousands in aid that you should have otherwise received. (The CSS Profile is 200-300 questions, with many more traps lurking for do-it-yourselfers.)
Negotiation
Colleges are businesses. Your initial award may not be their "highest and best" offer. Pearl harnesses her ex-prosecutorial powers to put forth the most powerful, cogent financial aid and merit aid appeals to the financial aid and admissions offices if they've "lowballed" you.

Your Secret Weapon: Meet the Former Prosecutor
Who Fights for Your Family
Let me tell you about the person who actually runs the show, Pearl.
She's not your off-the-shelf accountant or run of the mill financial aid advisor.
Pearl is a former prosecutor. A lawyer by training.
Which means she brings a level of attention to detail, advocacy, and sheer tenacity to the overly complicated and confusing financial aid process that most people can't even imagine.
Think about that for a second.
When YOU fill out the FAFSA or the CSS Profile, you're guessing. You're Googling and ChatGPT'ing.
You're staring at questions you don't understand, checking boxes you're not sure about, and hoping you didn't make a $20,000 mistake.
When PEARL completes financial aid applications for our clients, she knows EXACTLY what she's doing.
She knows which strategies unlock aid for your family.
She knows which deadly traps are lurking in the formulas and college financial aid departments, lying in wait to prevent you from getting all you deserve.
She knows which colleges are likely to be generous, and which ones will "stiff" you.
She knows which assets to shelter and how to position your finances so the formulas work in your favor.
And she doesn't do this for 5 families a year. Or 50. She files financial aid applications for approximately 500 families a year.
Having Pearl in your corner is like having a world-class attorney represent you in a negotiation, where the other side has an army of lawyers and you were about to walk in alone.
It's not a fair fight.
This is how you level the playing field and beat the overprices, rip-off colleges at their own sick game.

Lockwood Helps Mom Fix FAFSA Problems
I wanted to thank you for all the help you have given me regarding my son Robert's financial planning for college.
You were an enormous help when I had problems with the FAFSA and eventually the appeal to SUNY Albany.
Your professionalism and patience is what makes you and your business so successful.
I am going to recommend you to all my friends so they can put their mind at ease and not have to worry about undertaking this daunting process alone!

She Worried When Her Friends Get No Financial Aid, Then...
When my friends started telling me that they received nothing in financial assistance, I once again began to worry. But then our packages started coming from Ithaca, University of Albany, Syracuse and the best yet Boston University.
My friend said "I can't understand how you received so much in assistance, while I got NOTHING!"
All I can say is "Thank you Pearl and Andy!" You made this whole process so easy, less stressful, and dare I say downright fun. Thank goodness you know all the loopholes. You are the best! Guess we'll be seeing each other for the next 4 years.

Is Financial Aid Warrior Right for You?
THIS IS FOR YOU IF:
✓ You want to send your kid to the school they EARNED without changing your lifestyle or draining your savings
✓ You want to avoid telling your deserving child that, even though they did their part to get in, you didn't do yours and can't afford to send them
✓ You earn six figures or more and assume you "make too much" for financial aid (you're probably wrong)
✓ You own a business and have no idea how much money is hiding in plain sight ("Tax Scholarships")
✓ You're overwhelmed by stress, confusion, and uncertainty of trying to navigate financial aid alone
✓ You realize your accountant, financial advisor, and guidance counselor are NOT equipped to handle this
✓ You want every form filed perfectly, on time, and strategically optimized so that you get all you deserve
✓ You want a leading expert in your corner to help NEGOTIATE your award after you receive it (most families don't even know this is possible)
THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF:
✗ You're comfortable Googling and ChatGPT'ing your way through a $300,000+ decision
✗ Your strategy is just "figure it out later" (later is when it costs you the most)
✗ You trust your accountant to handle something they were never trained in, or actually want to do for you

Can You Do This Yourself?
Picture this:
It's 11:24 PM on a Tuesday. The FAFSA deadline is tomorrow.
You're sitting at the kitchen table with your laptop, a stack of tax documents, bank statements and investment account paperwork.
And a growing knot in your stomach.
Question 38 is asking about "net worth of investments."
Does that include your 401(k)? Your home equity? The 529 plan? What about the rental property?
You ask Google. And AI. Three different websites give you five different answers.
You text your accountant. No response. (It's 11:24 PM.)
Your kid's guidance counselor?
They sent home a one-page handout in September that said "file the FAFSA early" and that was the extent of their help.
You're on your own. Filling out a form that will determine how much you pay for the next four years of your life.
A form where ONE wrong answer in ONE field can cost you $10,000, $20,000, or more.
And you won't even know you got it wrong. You'll just get a lousy financial aid package and assume that's the best you could do.
Now here's what it looks like when you're a Financial Aid Warrior member:
You hand us your financial documents.
Pearl and her team analyze everything.
They identify every legal strategy to improve your eligibility.
They file every form, for every school, perfectly and on time.
They follow up.
They track deadlines.
They handle the headaches.
And when the awards come in? They negotiate for a better package.
You don't Google anything at midnight. You don't stress about which box to check.
You don't lose sleep.
Because you have a tenacious former prosecutor financial aid expert who files for 500 families a year in your corner.
That peace of mind alone is worth the investment.
You've Been All-In Since Day One.
Don't Drop the Ball Now
Can I be a blunt?
Think about everything you've done for your kid over the years.
The piano lessons when they were seven.
The travel soccer that ate up every weekend for four years.
Tutoring.
Voice lessons.
Summer camp.
The lacrosse club fees, the equipment, the hotel rooms for away tournaments.
You drove them all over town -- and beyond -- to rehearsals and practices.
You spent years sitting around in parking lots, bleachers and auditoriums.
You rearranged your work schedule.
You gave up your weekends. No sleeping in!
You spent untold amounts of money you probably shouldn't have spent.
And never once complained about it.
Because that's what Pearl and I did with our four kids. That's what we parents DO.
We invest in our kids so they can have the BEST.
Consistently. Year after year.
Why would you drop the ball NOW?
Your kid is about to make the biggest transition of their young life. This is when they need you the most.
And how they get there, whether they can attend the school they earned, whether your family can afford it without drowning in debt...
...that's on YOU.
This is not the time to "wing" the financial aid process.
The parent who drove to every practice, who paid for every lesson, who showed up for every recital...
...THAT parent doesn't cut corners on the most important financial decision of their kid's life.
It's time to finish what you started.

They crafted an appeal that got us $24,000, which was incredibly helpful. In subsequent years it was a brand new battle that we could not have won without Pearl and Andy.
We would be lost without them holding our hands. Highly highly highly recommend!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I make too much money to qualify?
This may seem counter-intuitive, but there is no magic "ceiling" in the financial aid rules that prevents you from qualifying. We have clients who make north of $300,000 getting need-based aid, and have seen families making less than $50,000 get nothing. That's because it's not just about income. It's about how your finances are POSITIONED when you file. That's where we come in.
If you have any questions about whether you're a good fit for our program, use the "Text Us" button on this page, or call or email us at 516-882-5464 or [email protected].
What if I own a business?
More than half of our financial aid consulting clients are business owners, because they are often our BEST candidates.
The financial aid formulas treat business assets and income flows differently than personal assets.
Plus, there are specific strategies we call "Tax Scholarships" that are tailor-made for self-employed families and business owners.
Is this process overly technical and hard to understand?
The process is complicated. But OUR PROGRAM is not.
We've made it as smooth and stress-free as possible, just follow our lead.
You provide us with your financial documents.
We do the analysis, the strategy, and the filing.
Follow our system, and you'll achieve the success you were hoping for.
Can I do the financial aid applications on my own?
You certainly could. Colleges would prefer that you did.
All I can tell you is that we have, any given year, a dozen or so active clients who are CPAs and other financial professionals.
But they chose to stay in their respective lanes and hire us to handle the financial aid application process for them. Because this is a completely different animal, and the stakes are too high to guess.
What if I decide I need more one-on-one help with the college applications?
That's a separate, more involved service. College advisory fees start at $12,000 and can be more than $30,000 depending on scope.
Are there any guarantees?
No. There are too many factors out of our control, such as which colleges accept and reject your child, how your child stacks up compared to other admitted students, that school's budget for the year in question, the current availability for federal funding, more.
The professional canons of virtually all college advising organizations, including the two we belong to, deem guarantees to be unethical. If any so-called college advisor offers one, be skeptical.
The Cost of NOT Taking Action
Before I wrap up, I need to make one last, unpleasant but necessary comment:
There are very real, potentially severe consequences of NOT moving forward. Inaction is a choice too.
If your decision is to do nothing, you could cause several unfortunate, long-lasting but avoidable outcomes:
- Saddling your child with crushing student debt
- Saddling YOURSELF with crushing parent debt
- Delaying retirement
- Having to let your son or daughter down by confessing, quietly, "Sorry, I just can't afford to send you where you deserve to go. You did your part to get in, but I failed at mine."
So many parents tell me and Pearl each year that they "meant to" contact us years ago.
Then life got in the way, their kids got into college, and NOW, after they get their first bill and see the ACTUAL COST of tuition staring them in the face, they desperately hope that we can still somehow help them.
Sadly, when it's too late, we can't help. There's no magic wand or "do-overs" in our world. Hence, the "tough talk."
Your Next Step
Let me make this as simple as possible.
You have two options:
Option 1: Do nothing. Google or AI your way through the FAFSA, CSS Profile and other types of applications in the wee small hours of the morning.
Hope your accountant knows something about financial aid (don't hold your breat). Cross your fingers and pray the aid package is enough.
Option 2: Put a former prosecutor with 500 families of experience in your corner. Have every form filed perfectly, every loophole exploited, every award negotiated. Sleep like a baby knowing you're not leaving a dime on the table.
Option 2 costs $2,895 this week. After the deadline expires, it goes back to $3,495. If enrollment is still available at all.
How much could one "loophole" be worth to your family? $5,000? $10,000? $25,000 per year?
Now multiply that by four years of college.
The math on this is not even close.
