46% of college grads say they’re working in jobs that do not require a college degree within two years of graduating college.
My first job after college was the “Graveyard Shift” as a security guard at the then-new Chestnut Hill Atrium on Rt. 9 right near Boston College, followed by three years of bartending 6-7 days per week before heading to law school.
The difference is that, back then, I had about $12K in student loans to pay back, which I did while living at home for a few months. Today’s college grads have $35-100K, or even more, in student loans.
Pretty hard to service that debt while making 12 bucks an hour.
